In an interview with Collider, designer-turned-director Tom Ford has coyly discussed how an unnamed actor quietly abandoned the production of his stunning debut feature film, "A Single Man" on its first day — events which led to the inspired casting of young British actor Nicholas Hoult.

While it wasn't the first time the issue was brought up, Ford continues to refuse to name the actor, presumably out of respect. Unfortunately for Ford, and the actor in question, early announcements of the film's development and production reveal that the aforementioned actor was very likely fellow Brit, Jamie Bell.

"He didn’t show up the first day that he was due and he’s a well known actor," Ford recounts. "I’m not going to say his name. He was attached for six months and we’d made his costumes. Yes. But again it was so lucky and I cannot imagine anyone else in that role but Nicholas Hoult. I had seen Nicholas’s tape a few weeks earlier and similar to running into Colin at that premiere in London I was kind of thinking to myself, I had a sick feeling inside that this guy was perfect for it and that I was working with another actor. It just came together."

Hoult ended up giving a great performance, so the events that transpired probably turned out all the better for the parties involved, with Bell presumably dropping out of the acclaimed film to take on the motion-captured title role in Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's "The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn" (on which the actor himself was a replacement for Thomas Sangster).

Interestingly, Ford also addresses the rumor that Colin Firth, whose performance in "A Single Man" is rightfully garnering award season talk, was only cast after another unnamed and truly unknown actor dropped out. Ford swears Firth was his first choice, though recounted that he "jumped on a plane and flew from New Mexico where I was to London" for a "handshake deal" when the opportunity arose. Nevertheless, how Ford, Firth and Hoult must be counting their lucky stars now.

Will Lindsay Lohan rise above her tarnished public image and play courageous kidnapping survivor Jaycee Lee Dugard on the big screen? It could happen, says Tinseltown gossiper Janet Charlton. The fallen Hollywood starlet is said to be feverishly negotiating for the film rights to the life story of Dugard. The now 29-year-old woman attracted headlines last summer after she was rescued from a backyard Hell by a pair of quick-thinking police officers, 18 years after she disappeared from a school bus stop in Lake Tahoe.

Jaycee Dugard was snatched as an 11-year-old in 1991 and turned up in a California police station last May after nearly two decades in captivity. A convicted sex offender and his wife have been charged with the kidnapping.

We hear Lohan is hoping to star as the long-lost girl on the milk carton in a proposed Hollywood production about the real-life miracle.

In typical Internet age fashion, two new tracks off Eminem's "Relapse: The Refill" were leaked online last Thursday.

You can listen to both "Elevator" and "Buffalo Bill" on YouTube, something thousands have already done. Not surprisingly, the lyrics of "Elevator" are raising some eyebrows.

The line in question references "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert, who created his own buzz at the American Music Awards with his provocative live performance.

"Sorry, Lance, Mr. Lambert and Aiken ain't gonna make it/ They get so mad, when I call them both fake/ It's all these f---ing voices in my head, I can't take it/ Someone shut that f---ing baby up, before I shake it."

The exact point of controversy occurs at end of the third line and the beginning of the first, where Em ends one line with "fake" and begins the next with "it's". When he runs the two together in rap, it sounds an awful lot like a slur against homosexuals.

All three of the men referenced in the line -- former 'NSYNC member Lance Bass, pop singer and former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken and Lambert -- are openly gay.

Lambert commented without much complaint on his Twitter page on Thursday:

"Wow eminem mentioned me in a song?! I must be doin something right!? Even if he used the f word.... Whtev."

A few minutes later, he even seemed to concede the last part:

"Oh he says "fake it" my bad," he tweeted.

Eminem, who has a history of using anti-gay lyrics in his songs, so far denies the implications that he is using a slur in the song.

“It’s more important than any record I’ve ever made, by far,” Courtney Love tells Rolling Stone of Nobody’s Daughter, her much-delayed and much-anticipated first release since 2004’s America’s Sweetheart. Love began writing songs for Nobody’s Daughter in 2005 during a court-mandated rehab, then spent “66 and a half days” recording with producers Billy Corgan and Linda Perry. After road-testing the material in 2007, however, Love decided to rerecord the album with a different producer and a new band.

When talk show queen Oprah Winfrey announced last month that she would be ending 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' in 2011, pundits, fans and industry insiders alike immediately began speculating who would step up to fill her shoes. That question remains unanswered, but we now know who it won't be: Bonnie Hunt.

According to Broadcasting & Cable, Hunt's syndicated talk series 'The Bonnie Hunt Show' will cease operation at the end of this season. The show, which is produced by Warner Bros. and airs on NBC affiliates, is currently in its second season of distribution but won't make it a third thanks to a disappointing 0.8 rating average since it began airing last September. To put that figure in perspective, Oprah's season premiere this fall landed an 8.0 rating, while her protege Dr. Phil has been hovering around 3.0 for the year.

This isn't the first 'Bonnie Hunt Show' to take a nosedive on the tube. In 1995 Hunt teamed with David Letterman to create the original version of 'The Bonnie Hunt Show,' which was canceled after just eleven episodes. And in 2002 Hunt gave it another shot, headlining 'Life With Bonnie,' which garnered critical praise (including an Emmy nomination for Hunt) but which was also canceled after just two seasons on the air.

This got us to thinking: why do stars such as Hunt continue to get chance after chance on television even after they have proven incapable of carrying a series? We're all for giving people a second chance, and we personally like Hunt just fine, but as they say, the definition of insanity is repeating the same actions over and over and expecting a different result. So why not give some new, fresh talent a chance instead?

And it's not just Hunt that Hollywood keeps trying to force upon a tired audience. Check out some of these other high-profile cases:

Jesse James' ex-wife, porn star Janine Lindemulder, lost a custody battle over their 5-year-old daughter Sunny, who has been raised by James and wife Sandra Bullock since January.

Lindemulder, 39, was denied her request for "expanded visitation rights" in a California court on Monday following her claim that Bullock has prevented her from seeing her daughter, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Bullock, 45, has been helping James, 40, raise Sunny for the past year while the adult film actress was in prison for tax evasion. She served six months in jail and was released in July.

In court papers, James said he was determined not to let his ex-wife gain custody of their daughter because he feared Sunny would be introduced to a dangerous world if she lived with her mother.

Before Lindemulder was sentenced, Bullock also wrote a letter to the judge and claimed that the child was left alone during the day while the porn star was "asleep from drug use."

"I am aware that Janine has claimed many times that my desire to have [the girl], was because I could not have children of my own [James has three kids with his first wife, Karla]," Bullock says, adding, "that couldn't be farther from the truth."

According to court documents, Lindemulder's weekly visitation rights are now limited to daytime hours.

She asked Orange County Superior Court Commissioner Thomas Schulte to expand her visitation to include overnight stays, but the request was denied. She was, however, reportedly granted one overnight visit with her daughter on Christmas Eve, despite objections from James and Bullock.

What began as a scheduling snafu for Perez Hilton on KTLA's Morning Show has quickly escalated into a full blown battle.

Hilton and KTLA anchor Sam Rubin offer differing accounts of what prompted the gossip blogger to leave the studio before his scheduled appearance Monday. Hilton tweeted the saga throughout the morning Monday, culminating in his request for an "on-air apology/retraction".

Anchor Sam Rubin had his response for Hilton on Tuesday's show, and it was not quite the apology Hilton was hoping for:

Perez said we lied about what happened here, and he demanded a retraction...Well demand this you talentless dope, here is what really happened.
Sam goes on with his venomous "deposition," detailing his version of the events. According to Rubin, Perez was booked for a 9:20AM slot on the morning show, but his staff had him arriving at 8AM. The earlier slots on the show were taken by the unlikely combination of Snoop Dogg and a children's choir, so moving him up was not an option. Upon finding out he was scheduled an hour later, Hilton decided he could not wait, as he needed to tend to his blog. KTLA offered him an office in which to work, Hilton instead offered to make an appearance via Skype.

Rubin concluded his comments on a poetic note:

The KTLA Morning News and yours truly have been here long before Perez Hilton upchucked his way on to the scene, and we will be here long after he slithers away.

After going the concept route -- or at least making a linear work on 'The Black Parade' -- My Chemical Romance are going in another direction on their forthcoming album, due early next year. Spinner visited the group in their L.A. studio to get an early preview and we were left suitably blown away by the nine very disparate songs we got to hear. The tracks ranged from the atmospheric 'Light Before Your Eyes,' a song frontman Gerard Way describes as Pink Floyd-ish, to the '80s-flavored 'Trans Am' and the punk/dance party tune, 'Death Before Disco,' which starts off with a Judas Priest 'Living After Midnight' vibe and turns into a lyrical salute to the Stooges, Velvet Underground and MC5.
